UCLA wins the inaugural National collegiate Backgammon Championship over Northwestern. Semifinalists were Princeton and Indiana.

Participating teams were: Clemson; Davidson; Harvey Mudd; Indiana; Northwestern(2 teams); Princeton; UCLA; and Yale.
