But we are talking about ways to increase the probability of the format choising tbe best player. How much do you trust that the player with the best record is actually the best player?

As you point out someone could get unlucky with a poor bot opinion, but if that is your main complaint you should be more concerned with just regular bad dice luck then. Players in general not understanding the technique is the biggest obstacle.
