Another problem from chess:

I don't remember if it was this thread or another one, but someone suggested having class prizes as in chess.

One word: Sandbagging. Common problem in chess swisses.

It's somewhat mind-boggling to me that sports and games with many draws schedule knockout events, requiring gimmicks like penalty kick shootouts and armageddon games to keep things moving, and here's backgammon which is perfect for knockout events, and the suggestion is "more swisses".
