This win is the most memorable win in my backgammon career.
Even in two of practiced sessions, we playd low 1, like 1.2 and 1.5. The fact we perfomed really well in real game is fantastic, but it wasn't fluke at all.
The beauty of this is that every member contributed to the play in their way.
Falafel, as our captain, listend to every single opinions of us and took great initiative to lead us to right desicions. Contrary to previous rumor, he was a very fair, democratic leader. (Team members knew that, ofcourse)
Matt Cohn-Geier was our guide in opening phraze of the game as well as match score decisions. Also he and michy were all time pip counters. Because of him, we were fairy confident that we wouldn't make blunders in opening and are in right path even in tricky scores.
Michy, the hardest worker in our team, has tons of reference positions in his brain. Although he was usually silent, when he said "clearly xxx", we knew it was not even his opinion but it was the fact of the position.
David Wells found all candidate plays in a second including non-natural looking plays, and he speaked up. It was really important for us to see every possibility and start discussing. He inspired healthy argument and we were not going to be silent.
Bob Wachtel was a calm and cheerful observer of the game, but once he found a move, he wouldn't hesitate to argue even against falafel. That really encourage me to speak up too. As one of our DMP-Boys, his opinion in DMP alike score was usually right too.
Ralf Jonas is one of underestimated players in current backgammon scene. In audition match for entering our team, he played below 3 in three 9 pointers. He was a silent observer but when he speaked we respected his opinion especially in DMP alike score.
I am proud of the fact that we made right desicions in almost all situations even though we had a lot of discussions in many plays. It proved that we were not just a collection of good players but the greatest team ever assembled in backgammon history. I thank to all team mates!
I don't undestand that people who might possibly think our game boring.. None of watchers in Nordic weren't bored, but they were excited.
Also, if we switch to Nack Gammon or Phil Gammon, I predict that we would play in same high level in few month's time. They aren't difficult games for who can understand the nature of backgammon.
