Tavli: Plakoto (Tapa?) Quiz!

Rule 1: As written earlier, if both "mothers" are caught then it is a draw with no points and the next game has to be played.
Rule 2: If player A catches the "mother" of player B, then there is a rule stating that A wins a gammon if he manages to move all his checkers away from his own "mother" point (24) because that way the previous scenario cannot occur (B cannot capture A's mother as well). This rule was issued so as to save time, and proceed with the next game, as it looks meaningless for B to try to win the game or even to save the gammon (there are no backgammons in tavli).
Quiz: Lets assume that Rule 2 is not in place. Let's say that the previous scenario happens: player A catches the "mother" of player B, and player A manages to move all his checkers away from his own "mother" point (and thus no draw can occur).
1)Is there any possibility that player B manages to save the gammon? 2)Is there any possibility that player B wins?
Also assume that both players chooss the playes tha seem best (we don't have bot in tavli so as to know the best moves).
