In Response To: recorded tournaments (Iancho Hristov)

The more recent link certainly is the relation to the singer Cypress Hill.

However, Cypress is a tree, etymologically derived from the Greek word "kyparissos", translated in latin to "Cyparissus".

Without betting on it, I suspect the Island of Cyprus being named like that due to the climate favorable to those conifers.
