But how much does the (random) order of entry by round affect the final result?

My hope is that you get the same answer every time. (Though it might take some tinkering with the rate of convergence or number of times through the simulation to make sure it works.)

In the end I doubt anyone would claim that these ratings carry much meaning in the usual sense ...

True. The "rating" is not intended to be a reflection of your absolute strength. It is just a measure of how well you did that day in the tournament.
