Daily Quiz 5/3

1. Doublets don't have to be moved in pairs, but here it seems that the top candidates involve choosing two out of the following three pairs: 6/1*(2), 10/5(2), 21/11. All three have their merits, but I think I'll try 10/5(2) 6/1*(2). It's useful to get the blot out of our hair, and the 5pt is the 5pt. I have some doubts, though, since at DMP I think we'd want to play 21/11.
2. We have enough of a board advantage that we can consider leaving blots. 16/13 8/7 seems to be the main blotty candidate. It's not totally clear to me that White will hit with every 3 or 4, since doing so may increase her gammon danger (White gets hit back and starts to dance, dance, dance). The advantage of 8/7 is that it increases our flexibility, and avoids breaking our board (since the chief alternative seems to be 16/13 3/2). Still, things could go badly if we're hit. QF suggests 8/7 but I'd probably play 16/13 3/2 OTB.
3. Just glancing at the position suggests D/T because it's one checker back versus two checkers back with both players having similar primes. Blue does have annoying rolls such as 65 63 62 55 so I think the take is good. But aces are excellent so the double looks clear. D/T.
4. I think we're supposed to cover the ace point here, so that we can hit with impunity. 13/11 6/1.
5. The choices seem to be: (a) leave the blot where it is; (b) make the 11pt; (c) 15/13 6/2. It would seem thematic to maximize contact when behind in the race, but White does have a five-point board. I don't like leaving the blot where it is. Making the 11pt seems too inflexible when White doesn't have any rolls that force her to break anchor right away. 15/13 6/2.
