Daily Quiz 5/2

I seem to recall that 33 blitzes tend to be in 0.9 territory, which is not what I'd call a big take in this particular context.

Below .9 would be a whopper to drop, I think this one is rolled out to in .8something in BE.

Stein: Blue must have a little for score, Tim: Isn't this backwards when Blue doesn't win many gammons?

No it applies even without gammons. I didn't do the actual calculations here as it didn't seem to be the most important point, but when the trailer threatens to overtake the leader after a cube-turn the raw TP gets higher, also here the 8-cube rates to have a low TP for Blue.

Actually doing the math, without gammons, White risks 13 to gain 34 for a raw TP of ~ 28%. The recube to 8 is for the match at a blue TP of 10%, so White gets very little use of the recube. So as far as the calculations go they are in line with my thinking. The position may of course not lend itself to efficient cubes anyway, in which case the higher TP is made less important.

Side note, it was kinda latish last night when I did the quiz, and I actually woke up today thinking about my #1 play which in daylight seems to be far too loose - I think the double hits just kills me there. 24/18 is still tempting, but 8/6 would then probably be the necessary 2 and that does not look good. OTB I'd probably end up playing 24/22 8/2 at any time of the day.
