I think we need a sentinel in the outfield to dissuade white from running the spare off the 5 point. So while 13/2 makes a fifth homeboard point and safetys a blot, the next thing that's going to happen is white leaps into the outfield, totally dominating it while blue is stuck behind a 5-prime and watches as his board goes crunch. No thanks.

I think it's better to run off the anchor - blue has a nice board of his own and there are no spares handy for white to clobber blue with. 54 and doubles are trouble, but not much else. After 22/16 I don't think it's prudent to continue on to the 11 as that invites a direct shot with a spare he's itching to get moving. I'll opt for the safe 13/8 (blue is ahead by 24 pips ofter this move, so safe is good) over the more aggressive 8/3.
