Pick and pass (8/2*/1) should be the right idea here, because it accomplishes 2 good things: hitting a checker and covering the ace.

However, the classical 61 opening (13/7 8/7) should not be that far below, as it provides another landing point for the midpoint that will have to be cleared soon against a 4pt anchor.
