1. I play 8/4*/2*. I think we want to attack White at some point and now seems as good a time as any. We're slightly outboarded but not by much.
2. The three candidates seem to be 24/20 13/12, 24/20 3/2*, and 13/11 13/9. I would really like to activate one of our rear checkers here with 24/20, but then both 13/12 and 3/2* seem pretty dangerous. 3/2* sacrifices our five-point board and leaves recurring shot danger even if we're missed at first. 13/12 leaves two outfield blots to be picked up if we're hit. I guess I play 13/11 13/9 hoping that White's somewhat inflexible position will crack first, but I'm not at all confident about it.
3. One has to be cautious with recubes at 5-away/many-away when gammons are possible, at least if the opponent can take. But I don't know my 9-point MET and even if I did I'm not sure I could estimate White's chances very well here. Blue's threats look pretty strong, making a six-prime and holding it for several turns while waiting to escape the back checker. Still, my guess is that even then, closing out the 1pt and 2pt won't be trivial without a dangerous loose hit against White's five-point board. I'll guess that White can take, in which case the position is probably too gammonish to redouble ATS. ND/T.
4. The 5pt looks pretty clear here. 7/5 6/5.
5. We could hold with 6/1. Otherwise, it looks like we're leaving a double shot anyway, in which case the banana split 13/9 4/3* looks like the best choice. At (effective) DMP we don't care about the difference between gammon losses and single losses and the pip gain when the hit is worth a lot. 13/9 4/3*.
