In Response To: rules/ethics question: consciously playing your best (Rich Munitz)

Knowingly throwing a game or a match simply cannot be considered acceptable behavior, no matter what the circumstances.

Unless... your opponent has just made a move that is both poor and illegal. The US rules allow you to accept the move as played. You instead knowingly throw the match by forcing him to play legally.
