We may differ in our definition of an 'elite club'. Ray is certainly far from the best technical player in the game -- not to demean his comparatively excellent play. Conversely, and I'm not as familiar with the play of all of the Giants as I am with fairly active playing Giants in the States, I think Ray is very nearly, if not, the best player in the game as related to the intangible, non-technical aspects. The combined effect provides him many wins and, justifiably, affords him a ranking in the Giants list. Is that an 'elite club' of backgammon players, from an overall playing perspective? In my book, yes.
