XG2 is about 20-25% slower than XG1.

On the other hand, XG2 3-ply is stronger than XG1 4-ply and is about 5 times faster! more details about speed and strength is at www.extremegammon.com/xg2level.asp

The improved engine also end up making rollouts converge faster and overall it will take less time in XG2 to reach the same confidence than in XG1.
