The first Giants of Backgammon Invitational is a one-of-a-kind event, matching the best Backgammon players from around the world against each other. Yamin Yamin's Giants of Backgammon will be invited to play heads-up in a format designed to show their strength. All matches will be recorded, analyzed and published, providing hours of top-flight study material.

Format and Conditions

•Invitations will first be extended to the top sixteen Giants from the 2009 vote. Based upon responses, cascading invitations will be extended down the list of 2009 Giants until we have a complete sixteen player tournament. •Limited to sixteen players •Single elimination •Rounds will be best 2 out of 3 9-point matches •All matches will be clocked •All matches will be legal plays only •All matches will be recorded •All matches will be analyzed using ExtremeGammon and then compiled into a booklet for sale. All participants will receive a complimentary copy. •Spectators are welcome and encouraged to attend this historic event

Entry

•$1000 entry fee, 98% return •1st place 70%, 2nd place 30% •2 side pools, $250 & $500, 100% return •Side pools will pay one or two places

Schedule

•Tournament will start Thursday, May 26th at 2:00 PM •The first two rounds will be played Thursday, the semi-finals Friday, and the finals Monday.
