I will congratulate you on your gesture, but I don't think it necessarily constitutes 'fair play'.

That having been said, I cannot imagine a single championship level player that I know, and I know many, that would not let a legal move stand. In fact, it may very well be illegal to have a legal move be replayed; a player may be subject to sanction for having done so. Those with greater off-hand familiarity with the rules than I have may be able to comment.

I think everyone in a tournament plays with the expectation that every other player will play within the rules and will try his/her best to win. I can imagine not many people in the field would be very happy with some Joe Blow weak championship level player forfeiting a first round match, in effect, to the best player in the field by doing at DMP something like you did.
