Yes - In the example you gave, if the expert wins after getting a break from the pigeon, I am happy to play the expert unless I play for too high stakes.

And also about the different philosophies. You can look at the rules of the game and follow these strictly, and you can look at the spirit of the game, and derive your decisions from that. Both philosophies are OK with me, as long as you are consistent. Both philosophies are not perfect in all cases. I am more a 'spirit' guy, you a 'rules' guy. If I would play you, I would know what to expect, and would know you are honest. I guess same the other way around.

In Arda's case, I would have acted the same as he did. If I would play you, you'd refuse the 'gift'.

It may be a cultural thing - in the country where I originally come from, many laws and regulations are still on the books, but are not enforced (and then I went to a country where many laws and regulations are not on the books but nevertheless enforced, LOL).
