Yes. And before you think I might be making this up - I am certain that my group of friends could put a name to blue. I like Blue, but they know I question some of their decisions.

This is of course a completely legitimate cube action. Is it ethical for Blue to cube? is it ethical for White to take? I am bringing this to light because it does happen online and could happen in real life.

Is White compelled to contact the host in the US for a legal cube action? What rule would compel them to do so? How would white know? Are there events that cover this with their own rules? Are there ones that don't? What defines sportmanlike conduct?

This isn't a slam on the US events. But there is talk of more stringent rules, and to make things more clear cut. The USBGF has a list of ethical practices but they are general. The US rules do not have anything in them one way or the other.

If people are looking at building a more comprehensive set of rules, one place I think they could really add to is what is acceptable and what isn't in the area of conduct. Is this an example of throwing a match? Blue could say they misread the score and cubed by mistake.

I have taken particular interest in this area because as some of my friends know I will be running my own online events in the near future. One of the criteria for my event is based on people complaining about unsportmanlike conduct being ignored by hosts in other events. I'd like to start defining what that is, so those that enter my events know what is expected, and the penalties. It had me thinking with the discussion recently - what defines unsportsmanlike conduct in a real life event - and do events document this in their official rules?
