Data in XG2 is backward and downward compatible: you can open games saved in XG1 in XG2 and vice-versa.

Profile information is also compatible both way.

The only thing not fully compatible is the player name in case you use non-ansi characters, if you reopen a game with player having extended character they will show with a "?" in lieu of each non-ansi character.
