Comment on Position 1

You'll have to take my word on this, but I am very proud to announce that I was 0 for 5 on Stick's quiz today, based on XG 4ply eval. Now that I am finished with my bragging, I have a comment on Position 1.
Early in the game, if White has only two points on his side of the board (his 8pt and 6pt), and Black has three checkers back, there are ten ways to position them in your opponent's inner board so that they are on three different points. Magriel called this the "triple split." Here are the ten combinations: [24 23 22], [24 23 21], [24 23 20], [24 22 21], [24 22 20], [24 21 20], [23 22 21], [23 22 20], [23 21 20] and [22 21 20].
Of these ten possible triple splits, there is only one that avoids getting pointed on twice by at least one of White's doublets: [24 23 20]. If White neither hits nor makes his 7pt, then Black will have 30 numbers (excluding 51 61 55 66) that could be used to anchor on either the 20pt or 18pt.
I conclude that [24 23 20] is the safest and most effective of the ten triple splits.
In second place is [24 21 20]. White points twice with only double 1s, but can make and keep only one new point. I conclude that [24 21 20] is the second safest and effective of the triple splits.
