Ralf Jonas is an amazing player, he also won the Paris Masters two years in a row back in 2002 and 2003, an event in which particpated many top Giants of Backgammon and previous World Champions, such as Magriel, Granstedt, Bagai and Schiemann, just to name a few.

Jonas was also a semi-finalist in the Million Dollar tournament in The Bahamas in 2007.

I randomly searched my old match file collection and came came across the final match of the 2002 Paris Masters - it was a two-out-of-three 11-point match series versus Leonid Riskin.

There was 11 games in the final with 406 moves. Analyzed with my version of Snowie back then, Jonas played 1.774 and analyzed with today's version of Snowie, it says he played 1.846.

I would say Jonas is a serious contender.

If anyone would like that match file, download it here: http://www.gammonlife.com/2002-paris-masterfinal-Riskin-vs-Jonas.txt
