The key question is wether or not the 24 point blot is a liability or an asset.

It should be clear that blue will win more games with the 24 point blot since it is harder for white to bear in and off without leaving shots.

at "normal" scores the 24 point blot will also cause some gammon losses and in these situations it is less clear if the blot is an asset or a liability.

At the score gammons don't count (much) so the downsides to leaving the blot are mitigated.

How about blue's timing? I reckon blue will have enough timing to build his board using the checkers from the mid point and the outfield, while waiting for a direct or flyshot.

Verdict: I just build with this roll at the score. If gammons counted I would probably have made your play.
