I doubt that a simple "all matches receive same dice rolls" (At least as stated) would say anything. One play made differently can dramatically change the dynamics of an entire match.

Bob's idea of Backgammon quizzes would be a better measure. If everyone is given the same positions, those who score better across all the problems wins. To me that doesn't seem as exciting.
