Taking a break

When I was playing bass guitar I often had similar feelings like yours now.

What helped me the most was - taking a break.
By doing that I felt like my brain was resetting. After the break I noticed everything I knew has settled in the right place and I was open to some new ideas - my creativity was much better after these breaks and I was very pleased with my playing.

So my advice is simple - take a month or two (or more) to do some other non-backgammon stuff, don't play at all.
After that period, you'll know if you're ready to come back or to find some new hobby.
