Henrik, I figure that to a very good player, like Stick, who has rolled out and studied the opening rolls, and who has played and studied a lot of backgammon in other ways, just knows what the best plays are in many situations and perhaps browsing through a match like this one, finds there was nothing much to it.

When I play and get a good ER, very often it is due to the fact that a game or match had many obvious plays, such as hit, make a point or make the move that will duplicate numbers or offer less shots. Sometimes you get many such easy decisions one after another in a game.

In this match, between Ralf Jonas and Leonid Riskin, I thought these were a couple of interesting positions:

Jonas, Black to play 6-1, he is losing 0-1, 11-point match,
pip count Jonas 154 - Riskin 172.

Riskin, White doubles Jonas, score 1-1, pip count Jonas 161 - Riskin 128
Take or drop?
