EPC's aren't enough on their own. The variability in number of rolls to bear off is also relevant. This is taken into account somewhat in the pips vs rolls takepoints. Sometimes even the distribution of number of rolls to bear off is relevant. For example for 4 vs 4 checker symmetric bearoffs from 11 pips to 16 pips the win chance for the on turn player gets better as the race gets longer. Do any of the formulas work for that position type?
