The cube to 2 looks like a pass to me, the cubes to 4 and 8 seems both doubles and takes, with the takes quite easy and the doubles on the thin side.
With Neil's double 4 I'd also have played 20/4 OTB; I understand what is wrong with it, but am concerned that if I'd address that in my private 'neural net' I would start reducing contact too often. The way I understand it is that if you play 20/12 18/14(2) you keep contact against the outfield points and bring checkers to bear on the rear end of the prime, useful in case you hit. Playing 20/4 does not work extending the prime from the rear, and often causes Neil to leave a shot next turn; leaving shots is costly because the hits gain tempi for clearing outside points.
