Position #2 shouldn't be a cube at this score.

I will bet that given the way this series had unfolded to this point that the cube to 4 was the last thing that Neil wanted to see right here. I think Rod was very correct to cube here and he nearly hit the jackpot from it.

I agree, I would not have recubed to 8 for all the reasons you stated. Plus that Rod was clearly in a taking mood.
