I don't really understand what you're getting at and in both examples since you're getting hit from the back it's easiest just to add the point you got hit from to the total as UBK pointed out. EG #1 of yours as White you're -3 pips (winning the race) before roll. Your opponent is using his entire roll to hit you from the 23pt so the count will change by 23 pips. You'll go from -3 to +20. EG #2 of yours as White you're -6 pips (winning the race) before roll Your opponent uses his entire roll to hit you from the 24pt so the count will change by 24 pips. You'll go from -6 to +18.
