I mostly agree with Bill - as long as the outcome of the roll was random, it stands no matter how it happened.

as long as no one has intentionally touched it and deflected it or otherwise influenced its movement

The key here is whether the outcome was random regardless of whether someone intentionally touched it. Needless to say, a player intentionally interfering with a roll shall be at a disadvantage if a ruling is required.
