1. You have no offense - argues no hit. Even if things go well early on, say hit, dance, cover the 5-point... you will difficulty mobilizing your back men into the outfield, especially your men on the ace-point. It seems very unlikely you can win this game going forward. On the other hand, the 1-4 game gets shots during the bear-in, not the bear-off, and here it is. You are staring at a Gammon or backG anyway, so perhaps the downside to the hit isn't that much. Screwed if you hit, screwed if you don't. Still, I want at least the 5-point covered before you hit, and ideally some more men mobilized in the outfield to anticipate the containment game should you get lucky enough to hit. He still has to clear the mid-point, so you may yet get another shot. So, I say no hit. Bar/21, 6/5. Now you are ready to hit, if only you get another chance.

2. I don't think you are very much still trying to win here, rather than in panic BG save mode. I like Bar/20, with the hope of making the 20 point and maybe getting a triple shot down the line. The downside of pick/pass and dance the night away isn't too bad, since an eventual shot from the bar will be almost a double shot anyway. So Bar/20.

3. A hit is a hit. We can't wait any longer. Then stuff it in there. We have few checkers on the offensive side of the board so let's use them as efficiently as possible. What's the downside really anyway? So I like 24/23*, 8/5. Also, White has 2-4, 2-1, 5-1 root numbers to expose a second blot.

4. 23/20*, 6/2 is the really cool play. The guy on the 6-point isn't doing anything for us anyway. Perhaps it is right to start the best available point while giving White some horror rolls like 2-1 or 2-3. On the other hand 2-1 and 2-3 are pretty bad anyway so maybe this is just too flashy. Better to keep our spare high and try to hit loose on the 4-point when White vacates the anchor. So I'll go 23/20*, 21/17. Blocking jokers like 4-4 I believe is the wrong idea. In the containment game, I say you spread out your army and wait for him to come to you. His board is so weak that even if he rolls a miracle number you are favored to just come back in and hit him again later.

5. I have no idea what's going on, must be a double right? Actaully, I don't Woolsey's rule was intended for idiots like me who never have any grasp where the take line is. We would always be doubling since we are clueless. In this position, I have no idea what Blue needs in terms of assets to get a drop. It is hard to imagine white is near a drop with 7 men off, but who knows? Anyway, regardless of whatever the truth of the position is, my guess is Falafel is a taker. I see him taking this many many rolls later, even if our position improves dramatically. So let's wait. No Redouble.
