Nice analysis. My theory is that in this sort of position, one usually wants to keep an even distribution and not stack up, because the risk of vacating a point and then missing is more likely, and hence more significant, than the gain from ensuring that doublets bear four checkers. So for instance in your third position, the message I get is that good distribution is worth wasting a pip, not that we should play for 22.
