1. We can hit, or we can try to play 15-against-1 with 13/11 6/5 or 8/5. Since we're behind in the race already and White's front position still has weaknesses, I think hitting is indicated. 6/3*.
2. I prefer to lock up an anchor before continuing the blot-hitting contest. Bar/21 24/21.
3. White is only 14 pips behind and Blue is going to waste pips bearing in so my first inclination is that this should be a take. White's rear blot is a double-edged sword; it provides some extra shot equity, but it is also a potential target for attack, plus it eats into White's racing equity when White rolls big numbers (White would then like to run the back checker but may be unable to). On balance, my feeling is that it's a slight liability here, pushing White closer to a pass. However, Blue hasn't gotten his last checker home yet. D/T is my assessment.
4. There are four legal 3's. I don't think 16/13 can be right, since it creates two new blots and I don't see what it would gain to justify that. 8/5 is interesting but I think we want to hold on to the 8pt for now. That leaves 19/16 and 4/1. Breaking anchor creates a more flexible position, but it doesn't look like it's worth the shots when White may be forced to give us something soon. I play the obvious bar/19 4/1 and will be fascinated if the rollout favors another play.
5. At a normal score I'd take this but leading 3a4a I'd be gun-shy. There's no blitz yet but an ace-point game loses quite a few gammons. D/P.
