thanks for the answer Michael.

Just a few extra tips:

XG is quite forgiving : even if you copy the whole page, it will paste correctly in XG most of the time. If several XGID are copy, it will open the first one.

on windows 7, if you have XG in your task bar you right click and you will see an entry in the jump list called "import from clipboard". If you have already XG opened using the jump list will open a new instance.
