Daily Quiz 6/3

1. Seems like a clear double to me. Does Blue have enough compensation from his lead in the pip count, an equal board, and a broken prime? For money, maybe, but at 3a3a I'd drop.
2. We're running short of time so it's tempting to break anchor. Still, it looks to me that it's better to wait a roll. We can make another point and White may have to play something compromising. If we hold the anchor there's a question of whether to save a 6, but I'd just play 8/2 7/2.
3. Tricky decision. Hitting is the obvious play, gaining pips when we're behind in the race. However, it seems to leave us somewhat inflexible; it forgoes creeping up to the edge of White's prime, and potentially gives White another defensive guard that will make it difficult for us to play safely. I'll play 23/21 since it seems to me that escaping is more important than sending another White checker back. For the ace, 13/12 is interesting because White's indirect shots don't look too bad, but I'd just play 6/5 rather than risk getting another checker sent behind White's five-prime.
4. The natural play is 6/1(3) 7/2 leaving no shots, but it does have the disadvantage that if White enters with a 6 then the race will be up for grabs. The main alternative seems to be 7/2(3) 6/1, but it's hard for me to believe that creating a blot (which could remain there for a while if we roll poorly) is worth the risk. 6/1(3) 7/2 for me.
5. I think this is a clear money take and I would not double leading 3a4a. ND/T.
