Daily Quiz 6/3

1) Could black take here? Black has a 24 pip lead and a 4 point board, but the best black can hope for is to leave white with double shots at his loose blot next roll and with gammon costing so much I think Black must pass. Is white tgtd? There a decent number of sequences that seem to make this a take for Black, and being 24 pips down in the race it doesn't feel tgtd so I say D/P.

2) If we don't run now we are liable to leave triple shots very soon unless we shake a double, but if we do run we leave 24 or 30 shots right now. If we run one then 9 of his hitting numbers leave us 0 or 2 shots, 15 of his hitting numbers leave us 14 shots, 4 leave us 18 shots and 2 leave us 20 shots. So getting hit isn't bad as long as we return the favor ;). All that being said I can't convince myself to run, but I'm really close. 8/2 6/1

3) I have found that there is rarely a better option then stepping to the edge, and really I don't think we mind him having two checkers behind us anyways, 23/21 13/12

4) If I play it safe and he comes in on the six he is close in pips but he has more wastage then me, if I leave the blot on the ace and he comes in then I have to come in and hit him before he comes out, which he may have done when he came in, or he may have left me a blot to shoot at. If he doesn't come in I have 9 rolls that don't cover the blot of the ace, where as I would just be able to bring in my last two checkers off my 7 point the other way. I guess I talked myself out of slotting the ace. 6/1(3) 7/2

5) Take point for the trailer at 4a/3a is 22% so I don't see how black could possibly pass here. There are some good numbers for white here, but I am not getting 25% market losing sequences. And if we get hit here as white we are going to be looking at a big pass unless black has crashed already. ND/T
