Daily Quiz 6/4

1. I think the choice is between anchoring with 24/20 23/20 and clobbering with 8/5* 8/4. We could also do a bit of both with 23/20 8/4 but that doesn't look as good as simply anchoring. I think we're too short of attacking material to play 8/5* 8/4 so I will anchor.
2. A straight 20pt holding game with a 25-pip deficit is usually D/T. Here White has an extra checker back and Blue's outfield configuration is a little unusual. Blue has enough blocking points made that I don't think White's extra checker back is an asset; she will probably be looking to pop it out soon. On the other side of the coin, Blue's outfield checkers are not so easy to clean up. I'm guessing most of these factors cancel out. D/T.
3. I can't see taking this one. Is it TG? Interestingly, Blue's 53 and 63 jokers are duplicated to escape and make the bar. However, White's entering rolls are somewhat awkward. I think we can afford to play on. TG/P.
4. One checker back with a ten-pip deficit and a slightly stronger board. Looks like a fairly standard D/T to me.
5. If we hit, it looks like we're just asking to get pounded. On the other hand, 8/2 is pretty ugly. Still, five checkers back looks like a pretty gruesome prospect so I will play 8/2.
