Agree that someone playing to minimize PR at all costs gives up something in practical play in a tournament. But who is like that?

I am not sure what you mean by a cube being most efficient. To me it means a cube offered at the take/drop border. Do you mean something else? Whatever is meant, here is some relevant data. I watched XG+ play money games against itself (but without Jacoby rule). Of 50 cubes there were 18 drops and 32 takes. So at 64% it was far from almost every cube being a take.
