Stick wrote "when bearing in against a backgame it's not which point is hardest to clear so much as where do the checkers get sucked when trying to clear those points."

I've not heard this reasoning before. Why should this be so important? If you can clear those men behind the anchors they are no longer in danger of being hit. I can see that it would reduce your gammons because they are on low points rather than borne off, but other than that, what's the problem.
