On your second question, one small detail just in case:

And can I reenter the game from the bar with the count of the first die and then move a different checker for the count of the second die?

You can re-enter from the Bar with the count of the first die, but let's say you have another checker on the Bar which could not enter with the count of the second die, then you cannot move a checker elsewhere on the board until all checkers on the board have been re-entered. You probably saw that in the rules, but just wanted to make sure it was understood.

And just in case you encounter it... here's one more that some rules do not explain:

Due to blocked points, a player will sometimes be able to use only one of the numbers showing on the dice and in some cases neither. However, in a case where he can use one or the other but is then blocked to move the second number, the higher number must be played.
