For travelers who are already in town...

Join us at El Toritos restaurant in Burbank for a good dinner, as well as our fun local weekly backgammon tournament!
Start time is 5:00pm, with rebuys closing at the end of Round 2 (6:45pm). The entry fee is $10 ($5 for first timers), but you can be in for as much as $40 with two separate sidepools. If you lose and re-enter, you keep your sidepool equity. 100% return knockouts (4 or 8 players) and non-consulting chouettes are usually available after 6:40pm. On normal days, we draw around 20 players, and sometimes fill a 32 player bracket with the help of rebuys... tonight should be an exception.
As for transportation, if you don't have a rental car, you can take the big blue FlyAway bus directly from LAX to the Airtel Plaza Hotel in Van Nuys (where previous ABT events have been held), a distance of about 22 miles, and I will be happy to pick you up and drive us to the tournament in Burbank, which is another 11 miles or so. The FlyAway bus is only $7, cash only, per way, and has free WiFi on board. The ride from LAX to the Airtel is about 45-60 minutes, and buses leave every half hour. So if you catch the 3:00pm bus (no later), I'll be at the Airtel by 4:00pm to shuttle us the rest of the way. I will also drop you off at the Airtel afterwards no later than 11:00pm, as the last shuttle departs at 11:30pm. I might even drive you all the way back to LAX myself... if I win the tournament. ;-)
