Reflections on the LA Open

Nicely put, Bob. And thanks for the kudos.
I should add that Lynn Ehrlich was intstrumental in organizing the various USBGF events, and I believe Mrs. Gartner was involved here as well. MFIC's niece and her friend (whose names I regretfully cannot recall) were excellent dice box turners for the U-Streams as well as flawless webcam and video cam operators. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to Matt Recklaitis, backgammon player and programming genius, for creating and making available the online brackets.
During the Giants Quiz Answer presentation, I believe Neil Kazaross, Art Benjamin, Bob Koca, and few others also spent a few minutes sharing their backgammon expertise on Sunday afternoon. Neil, if I recall, was also responsible for completing statistically significant rollouts for the 16 problem quiz. Hats off to you guys.
Although Bob already mentioned this (and in spite of my bias), I think my wife, Rynell, deserves a boat load of credit for doing the work of nearly three individuals. In addition to her normal duties of updating the physical paper drawsheets on the walls, she also duplicated her efforts by copying these rusults to the online draw sheets. On top of that, she was responsible for setting up the table containing the video and web cams, establishing the links and posting them here on BGO, making sure that quality matches were lined up to play there throughout the entire weekend, and continuing to monitor the quality of the live feeds making small tweaks and adjustments as needed based on the feedback presented here on BGO.
Finally, as we all know, when reporting results or asking drawsheet related questions (as well as numerous non-draw-sheet related questions), sometimes players can get a little impatient and come across as a bit pushy or rude, particularly during busy times, especially if these players have just lost a salty match. Rynell responded to a handful of such situations with poise and patience of her own, resisting the temptation to give said players a piece of her mind. For that, I believe Rynell deserves a round of applause.
