Reflections on the LA Open

Well said, Bob.
These four days of virtually non-stop backgammon was a home run and the event of the year in my opinion thanks to the tireless effort, preparation and skill of all involved and the positive energy that flowed continuously from both the staff and the people in attendance. The banquet was a distinctive and unique touch and it was great to see some young UCLA college students standing up live in front of a room full of aging backgammon players being recognized for their National Collegiate Championships win - they are our future. The USBGF National Championship event pulled in 110 different players, plus 178 rebuys - the largest single tournament held in the US in many years.
I want to add to the list of recognitions - thank you to the numerous USBGF Founding Sponsors and regular members who have all made a personal decision to generously support this young organization and those who went out of their way to attend this event. The future of backgammon in the USA has never looked brighter and that could not and will not happen without the support of this community.
