What is "the zone"?

I wouldn't add it. It only muddles the definition. When you refer to checkers in the zone you're always (?) doing it because of one or both sides capabilities at blitzing/attacking/etc. I can never in my short lived bg career remember a position where there were X checkers in the zone but any of them were dead and I needed to refer to 'the zone' for some reason.

Anyone can feel free to waste his time coming up with such a position but until you pull it directly from actual play I don't care...and even then I probably won't give a hoot.
