David Startin, although you might take a Chinese name for ease of use. Chinese often take a Western name when they go abroad for the same reason, and then use the western order. E.g. RUAN Yi as the official name, Jennifer Ruan as the Western name for convenience.

The point is that if you say Na Li to a mainland Chinese, they will not know who you are talking about. For the same reason, Yao Ming and not Ming Yao. You also use Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping, Hu Jintao, Jiang Zemin, Sun Yatsen, etc. Might as well be consistent.
