The opponent redoubled me and I tried the Thorp Count. The verdict was 29 to 31 against me and a borderline take/pass. I tried a bit of "common sense", whatever it is and got suspicious.
Then I remembered the EPC trick of the late Walter Trice. I knew I waste about 7 pips, so my total EPC would be 24+7=31. White has a 4-roll-plus position, so I began with 4*7+1=29. again as White has a 4-roll position, I can only afford to be 4-3=1 EPC behind. I judged White's position to be worse than 1 EPC compared to a pure 4-roll position. I took the cube.It turns out that Blue and White both have about 30 EPCs. So I waste only 6 pips, which makes it a huge take.
Button line, I get more and more convinced, that EPC is the Holy Grail of races. Afterall, one cannont argue with the Definition !
