I agree Bob, but you should be able to get the stat on truncated rollouts as well.

Some of the other stats are not applicable to truncated rollouts, and I think that they were done first, then closeout and hit statistics added afterwards.

It's true that blitz-type positions will often closeout later in the game because you're building a strong board early, so if you did a truncated rollout you'd simply see some fewer games with closeout but also fewer avg. moves before closeout.

But it could still be helpful to see the number, when using the stat to "understand" a position and to compare positions/moves. Maybe even more so in the truncated form because you "clean it" from the later closeouts (while they are important for the equity-assessment they might not be helpful in the "understanding" of a position, and they would still be part of the equity-assessment showed for the truncated data.

Eg. you could have position A and B, where A closeout more right away, but B closeout more down the line (for some other indirect reasons, maybe it yields more late shots). Comparing the two, you might be interested in learning which closeout most in the blitz right away plus which has the best equity. Looking at truncated figures could give you that info better, since you'd see that "even though A closeout more right now, it's not the best move because of the worse equity in the games where it doesn't closeout". Where as the full rollout statistics today would give you more closeouts for pos. B, but at a later move avg. And you'd have to go figure out the variance for that closeout average to learn if the equity in the position comes from the number of closeouts right away, or from later closeouts.

Anyway, my point is: just give us the statistics where it can be calculaated and used for something! More data please ;-)
