blue's value is 71 here, counting the ugly gaps with 5. white's value would be 82, if the gaps were counted the same way. Thus D/P.
But White's gaps are not as ugly as blue's, cause with every odd number they will be filled in the future.
This is the point where the method is not at all a formula, but leaves some space for estimation/creativity/intuition/common sense (and blunderful thinking).
So I count those gaps with 3.5 each and get a value of about 77 for white's position. Thus Double and Take.
ok, to be honest I knew in advance that this position is a take. so I adjusted the counting accordingly.
what may look like a trick or a cheat is the priciple of the method: whenever the method fails against reality, the method has to be adjusted. Then the adjusted method has to be counter-checked against older positions.
That way you never get a final system or a mathematical solution. But a quite good understanding for race positions.
