My rule for positions like this is to stay flexible and connected, and to watch out for root numbers and jokers. Joker-avoidance gains in importance as opponent's forward position gets stronger.

So since I would never make the 14 or 10 point with this 43, a priori, I didn't even notice the root on 11.
